    SLD 45 On-Boards New Launch Partners To Meet Mission Demand

    In the past ten years, there has been a considerable increase in the number of space launches from the Eastern Range (ER). In 2008, seven missions were launched from the ER. Now, in just the first six months of 2022, 27 missions have been launched, establishing an unprecedented launch pace. This increase is due to the rise of new launch providers, rising interest in commercial launches, and decreasing costs to launch from the ER.

    In 2017, the ‘Drive to 48’ campaign was a, 45th Space Wing, now known as Space Launch Delta 45, initiative to reach 48 launches in a 12 month time frame from the Eastern Range. In order to accomplish this, the challenge was to launch once a week in order to meet the goal.

    Space Launch Delta 45 hosts Pitch Day 2022

    Space Launch Delta 45 hosted Pitch Day on June 29, 2022 at the Eastern Florida State College-Melbourne Campus. Pitch Day is hosted to obtain innovative solutions that meet mission needs, close capability gaps, or provide potential technological advancements. It is an opportunity for leadership to access innovative commercial items and technologies or services from industry developers whose intent is to bring cutting edge ideas to the U.S. Space Force and Air Force.

    Project Arc fosters innovation across Air and Space Force

    Scientists and engineers across the U.S. Air and Space Force are being deployed to more than a dozen bases in the United States to develop innovative solutions to a variety of problems.

    SLD 45 saves 450 hours with ‘Stop the Silly’ campaign

    Time is a finite commodity. Many people struggle to find the time needed to carry out daily tasks, whether that be working, caring for their children or running errands. If those individuals had the benefit of saving 450 hours, the equivalent of nearly three weeks of vacation, they may get more accomplished.

    RAD enhances efficiency for space launch missions

    A new software program called “Range Application Deployment,” is enhancing situational awareness for space launch missions at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and Kennedy Space Center, Florida.
