Thanks...it was an honor Published April 25, 2014 By Command Chief Master Sgt. Herman E. Moyer 45th Space Wing Public Affairs PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- What a wonderful assignment! By far the best Emily and I have experienced in our 28 years serving this great nation. It's been an honor and a privilege to have served as command chief for 45th Space Wing and working with the tremendously talented men and women at Team Patrick-Cape. Emily and I enjoyed every moment interacting with the many Airmen and their families and we will take with us countless fond memories and experiences. With that said; this assignment was never about us, it was about the mission and the people who execute it...we credit the terrific team of folks who work and live here for the wonderful times and the many successes we have all shared over the past two years. It is you, the Airmen (Total Force Airmen to include government civilians), who accomplished the mission with excellence and pride each day. We are proud to have witnessed your many successes to include garnering 8 Air Force and 76 Air Force Space Command awards as well as countless functional and community awards. You have successfully executed 29 space launches to include deploying 19 DOD satellites to directly support Joint Forces in overseas contingency operations and 10 launches to support the International Space Station, interplanetary, scientific and commercial missions. You were awarded back-to-back Air Force Outstanding Unit Awards for 2012 and 2013 as well as the 2012 General Robert T. Herres Award for the best wing with a space mission in the Air Force. You achieved a "Highly Effective" rating in mission execution during the first-ever Unit Effective Inspection in Air Force Space Command and garnered 32 professional teams and 60 professional performers. I can go on and on about your many great achievements but I just want to say thank you for your hard work and dedication and I wish each of you many more successes; you are truly the best of the best. Emily and I would like to send out a few special thank you's to those smiling faces at the front gate, the Airmen and their families with whom we have had special talks with, and all those behind the scene Airmen who humbly contribute to the success of the team daily. We are proud of you all and I look forward to seeing you around the area as we transition to our new assignment at NRO Cape. Thanks again everyone for the memories and GO SHARKS!
