It's hard to believe that the year is almost over and 2009 is coming around the corner.

In the short time that I have been here, you have shown me how hard the members of Patrick Air Force Base and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station workday in and day out, 365 days a year. Now, it is time for you to "work" hard with your friends, families, and loved ones as the year comes to a close. You sure deserve it!

While you are busy relaxing, though, please take the time to remember that holiday seasons can be stressful for some members for a variety of reasons. Maybe they're having company in their homes for an extended stay, or maybe they'll be staying home all alone.

Maybe they're having trouble making ends meet - and finding the means to give somthing nice to their children during these tough economic times.

Whatever the cause, whatever the "stressors," I ask for all of us to be good Wingmen and be on the lookout for any signs that one of our own could be in trouble. And if you think they are, take action. Better to be safe than sorry.

In addition, let's never forget the nearly 100 people from Patrick Air Force Base and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station deployed to every corner of the world - most of whom are in harm's way. Remember them when you say your prayers. Remember their family members who are spending the holiday without their loved one.

In closing, let me ask you to be safe. I want you to have fun, but remember to keep safety and moderation at the top of your personal "to-do" list. We need you back here.
My wife, Patricia, and I wish you a very happy and safe holiday, and a joyous and prosperous New Year. Thanks for everything. See you next year. Go Sharks!
