45th Contracting Squadron wins AFSPC Awards

The 45th Contracting Squadron was recently recognized with four awards from Air Force Space Command; three individual awards and one team award.

"Our mission at 45th CONS is to provide best value contracting solutions to the 45th Space Wing and mission partners," said Lt. Col. Aaron Boyd, 45th CONS commander. "These awards demonstrate individual and team excellence in accomplishing our mission. I am really proud of the award winners and their accomplishments. I am also very proud of the supervisors and teammates for their continuous support in recognizing and supporting our excellent performers. You got it...We bought it."

Three individuals from the 45th CONS were awarded by AFSPC for their job performance in 2015.

Kathy Jackson was presented the Secretary of the Professionalism in Contracting for her exceptional leadership of a $1.27 billion program, supporting 16 launches, and negotiating over $14 million in savings. Kim Horner was recognized as the Outstanding Contracting Civilian of 2015 for her commitment to the mission, fulfilling over $91 million in requirements and executing $34 million in end of year funds. Kyra Jackson took home the Outstanding Pricing award from AFSPC. Kyra supported a $13.1 billion portfolio with her talented pricing skills and saved $178 million across three critical launch contracts.

In the team award category, the 45th CONS Cape Launch Operations and Infrastructure Support Source Selection Team won Outstanding Performance in a Source Selection for their efforts in awarding a $395 million mission-critical contract.

The 45th CONS was also recognized by the National Industries for the Blind and Source America for its outstanding support of employment of people with significant disabilities, receiving the Government Award for Services in the military category. The 45th CONS currently enables the wing's employment of 135 adults with disabilities in a variety of services ranging from custodial to ball-field maintenance.

Contracting professionals at the 45th CONS provide best value business solutions for all customers of the 45th Space Wing. They currently have 93 personnel assigned and were responsible for $343 million in fiscal year 2015.
