PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Tech. Sgt. Michelle Wright, 45th Medical Operations Squadron Physical Therapy Technician, was selected for Shark of the Week.

Staff Sgt. Jackie Summers, 45th Comptroller Squadron, nominated Wright because she went beyond the call of duty by intervening in situations that some might walk away from.

While leaving a local event, Wright noticed a female Junior ROTC cadet sitting on the ground. Intuitively, Wright asked the cadet a few questions and she realized the cadet was suffering from heat exhaustion and possible dehydration, according to Summers.

Wright then treated her for shock and contacted Emergency Medical Services. Once EMS arrived, there was a quick hand-off and the cadet was evaluated.

On a separate occasion, Wright was on her way home from work when she noticed a man and woman trying to put a motorcycle in the back of their truck. When she asked if they needed help she noticed a man sitting on the street, who had wrecked the motorcycle. She instinctively went to check it out and called for first aid, immediately. With the first aid kit, she cleaned the wound and dressed it for transport.

"These are just a few times that Wright went above and beyond the call of duty," Summers added.
