The Airman and Family Readiness Center (A&FRC) will continue operations in the event of a furlough. The center will provide the following services: Casualty Assistance Women Infant and Children (WIC) Personal and Family Readiness/deployed/repatriated family support Military Family Life Counselor (MFLC) Financial counseling to assist members budget for the potential loss of income AD Military Members: The Air Force Aid Society, Army Emergency Relief Society, Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society and Coast Guard Mutual Assistance are available for emergency financial assistance. Members can come to the A&FRC, bldg 722 for all military relief societies, except the Coast Guard; Coast Guard members must go to their ombudsman for emergency financial assistance. Air Force Aid Society Headquarters has provided the following guidance: " AFAS will be available to assist with your emergency financial needs such as food, gas, and other essentials. In order to help the maximum number of Airmen possible, it is not reasonable to expect the Society to replace your total lost pay. Be proactive and contact your creditors, landlord, utility companies, etc. and make them aware that your pay may be affected by the government shutdown. Ask them if you can make smaller payments or defer payments until your full pay is restored." DoD Civilians: DoD civilian employees can request emergency financial assistance thru www.feea.org. If they are also retired military, they can come to the A&FRC to request assistance from their respective service's relief society. Military relief societies will not give loans in anticipation of lost pay. Previously scheduled classes/seminars/events will be cancelled. POC: Lillian Cassidy, 494-5675
