It's week two of the CFC and approximately $62,000 have been raised through the generous contributions of people working on our base. Any small contribution has a greater impact on someone else's life.

"We don't have to go far to find people in need. Many of our family members, friends and neighbors will at some point benefit from this charity. Whether it's advances in medicine, elderly assistance, or the opportunity for a child to participate in after school programs similar to what we provide at our own Youth Center, each of us has something to gain by supporting the campaign, said Col. Robert Pavelko, vice commander, 45th Space Wing.

Last year, the Air Force donated $2.3 million to the CFC, of which the 45th Space Wing and our mission partners donated $194,000. The bar has been raised this year for total funds to be raised, but Colonel Pavelko has full confidence in our wing's ability to make our goal.

"We are well on our way to the $200,000 goal, so I ask you to keep running toward the finish! The key to reaching our goal is ensuring we make 100% contact and giving each individual the opportunity to make a difference," he said with emphasis.

Regarding CFC, Col. Pavelko would also like to inform the wing this:

$1 a week provides:

-200 pounds of food to feed the hungry
-12 school students with trained volunteer reading and math tutors
-Six days of medical supplies for a dialysis patient
-Two weeks of infant formula for a family in need
