South Gate Canopy Construction Published June 3, 2013 By 45th Space Wing Public Affairs PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Construction at the Patrick AFB South Gate will start on June 10 and continue until Sept. There will be a complete gate closure on three consecutive weekends only toward the end of the project to do overhead work. The gate will operate normally during the work week. A canopy will be constructed made of translucent panels supported on two columns that will span both inbound lanes. There will be varying lane closures to allow for work, so all personnel entering the gate must be aware of possible changes and delays. Delays will be kept to a minimum by not starting work until after the morning gate rush and pausing during the lunch hour rush.
