PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The 45th Space Wing held a modified Emergency Family Assistance Center on Oct. 17, 2018, at the Airman & Family Readiness Center for Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla. Airmen displaced due to Hurricane Michael.
The EFAC provided a forum to connect with various Patrick AFB agency representatives for Tyndall families who relocated to Patrick.
Those who relocated to areas like Daytona Beach, Jacksonville and Palm Beach, were given a link to a live webinar to listen in and ask questions during the EFAC if they were unable to attend in person.
“This is a family,” said Brig. Gen. Doug Schiess, 45th Space Wing commander. “The Patrick AFB team are experts and we want to make sure you’re getting the assistance you need and deserve.”
Airmen from finance, medical, lodging, legal, military personnel flight and the Chapel provided information for assistance and support. The Airman & Family Readiness Center also has information packets with detailed information for families here or those planning to come to the Patrick area. To reach the AFRC, call 321-494-5676.
“Our Air Force families are resilient and we stand ready to continue to provide them the support and resources that they need to move forward,” said Master Sgt. Angela Chenoweth, NCO in charge of Airman & Family Readiness.

As of Oct. 17, Airmen displaced are allowed to return to Tyndall to survey property damages and gather their belongings per the direction from Tyndall AFB senior leadership. There are time constraints and specific procedures for Airmen who are allowed to access the base. Though it can be difficult to see the positive side of things in the face of adversity, there are many Patrick AFB families with open arms prepared to support Tyndall families affected by Hurricane Michael. Patrick AFB agencies are standing by to take your calls and provide you the utmost support.
