Complaints Resolution (IGQ)

The Inspector General Complaints Resolution (IGQ) team assists service members of all ranks, civilian employees, family members, retirees, and veterans. The team also supports other individuals, including defense contractors and community members, with issues affecting the military community. Complaints may address regulatory violations, wrongdoing, abuse of authority, and fraud, waste, or abuse of resources, equipment, and facilities.

Your Rights & Protections

All individuals have the right to communicate with the IG and Members of Congress. These are considered Protected Communications under 10 U.S.C. § 1034.

No Restriction: No person may restrict, prevent, or discourage a member of the armed forces or a civilian employee from making lawful communication to the IG, the chain of command, or a Member of Congress.
No Reprisal: By law, members of the armed forces and civilians shall be free from reprisal (retaliation) for making, preparing, or being perceived as making a protected communication.

Whistleblower Protections for DoD Agencies

Department of Defense (DoD) whistleblower protections apply to military service members, DoD civilian employees, contractors, and certain federal employees. These protections are governed by specific laws and directives regarding retaliation, protected disclosures, and reporting channels (DoDD 7050.06 & 10 U.S.C. § 1034).

Provide clear, factual details.
Keep copies of all communications and other relevant documentation.
