Update April 2025
Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC) holders can register their VHIC cards at the Patrick Space Force Base Visitor Control Center during business hours.
If the Veteran Health Identification Card holder is eligible for a caretaker badge (ex. medically unable to shop, pick up medications) have them contact Patrick Space Force Base Visitor Control Center for instructions on how to get this credential for entry.
In line with Department of Defense efforts to eliminate gaps in policy that potentially allow an adversary access to the installation, veterans and VA caregivers are no longer allowed to sponsor “5 accompanying individuals” DoD Manual Vol. 3, paragraphs 5.1.c.(4).(c).3. & 5.1.c.(4).(d).4] using their Veteran Health Identification Card or VA caregiver status.
If these individuals possess some other affiliation for example, military retiree, dependent, etc., they are still eligible to extend sponsorship under those affiliations. Current and historic Fitness must still be determined at the Visitor Control Center prior to attaching the Veteran Health Identification Card or REAL-ID to the profile owned by the veteran or VA
Caretaker privileges are for custodial or extenuating circumstances which include but are not limited to: divorced spouses with military dependent children and military retirees under the care/support of non-military affiliated friends, relatives or caregivers.
A memorandum authorized by the sponsor’s commander or representative must be provided.
Those with felony convictions, arrest warrants, or other types of derogatory information related to criminal history may be denied.
