Visitor Control Center

ATTENTION: Effective 15 June 2025, visitors require vehicle inspections - Sunday, June 15, 2025

Effective as of 15 June 2025, all members requesting a visitor pass for Patrick Space Force Base and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station will require a vehicle search if the vehicle belongs to them or is a rental vehicle under their name. The same rules apply to personnel listed on an Installation Access List (IAL).
 
DoD CAC holders driving their own vehicle with an individual requiring a visitor pass as a passenger WILL NOT require a vehicle inspection.  
Individuals with other identification that is registered in DBIDS also will not require a vehicles inspection. This is ONLY for individuals who require a visitor pass from the VCC.
 
Vehicles will be inspected at building 281 on PSFB and building 91232 on Cape Canaveral Space Force Station before they are able to proceed onto the installation.

The Visitor Control Center is pleased to offer the Shark Pass, a streamlined and efficient process for sponsors to request visitor access to Patrick Space Force Base. To ensure a smooth visit for your guests, follow these guidelines:

  1. Plan Ahead: Submit Your Request Early: Sponsors are requested to submit their online Shark Pass applications at least five (5) business days before the intended visit date. This allows us ample time to process your request and ensure a hassle-free experience.   2. Stay Informed: Check Your Email for Confirmation: After submitting your request, you will receive an email notification confirming whether your Shark Pass application has been approved. Please check your inbox regularly for this update.

  3. Easy Pick-Up: Sponsor and Visitor, Please Collect Together: On the designated pick-up date, both the sponsor and the visitor must proceed to the Visitor Control Center to collect the Shark Pass. For verification purposes, please ensure that both parties have valid identification readily available.

  4. Enjoy the Benefits: Dedicated Lane and Parking: The Shark Pass grants access to the exclusive Visitor Control Center Shark Pass Lane and designated parking spaces, making your visit even more convenient.

 

Veteran Health Identification Card - Tuesday, April 29, 2025

Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC) holders can register their VHIC cards at the Patrick Space Force Base Visitor Control Center during business hours.
 
If the Veteran Health Identification Card holder is eligible for a caretaker badge (ex. medically unable to shop, pick up medications) have them contact Patrick Space Force Base Visitor Control Center for instructions on how to get this credential for entry.
 
In line with Department of Defense efforts to eliminate gaps in policy that potentially allow an adversary access to the installation, veterans and VA caregivers are no longer allowed to sponsor “5 accompanying individuals” DoD Manual Vol. 3, paragraphs 5.1.c.(4).(c).3. & 5.1.c.(4).(d).4] using their Veteran Health Identification Card or VA caregiver status.
 
If these individuals possess some other affiliation for example, military retiree, dependent, etc., they are still eligible to extend sponsorship under those affiliations. Current and historic Fitness must still be determined at the Visitor Control Center prior to attaching the Veteran Health Identification Card or REAL-ID to the profile owned by the veteran or VA
 

Trusted Traveler Program suspended - as of - Friday, January 3, 2025

As of Jan. 3, 2025, Patrick Space Force Base and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station will implement new base access security enhancements, and the Trusted Traveler Program will be suspended until further notice.  All visitors will be required to obtain a base pass, even when traveling with a military ID card holder. This decision was made to ensure the safety and security of the personnel, residents, and visitors.

Please be sure to come to the Visitor Control Center during normal operating hours Monday-Friday to avoid delays in processing. Weekend visitor pass processing will be accomplished at the East gate.

Official Visitors
For official visitors, or visitors accessing the installation for an official purpose (government contractors, non-DoD guests of an organization, etc.), they must contact the host organization's designated official base access sponsor.

Unofficial Visitor Access:
Due to the removal of the Trusted Traveler program, all escort authority for installation access is suspended, indefinitely. Unofficial visitors must request an Unofficial Visitor Base Pass from the Visitor Control Center. 

 

Visitor Pass Requirements:
Only provided at the east gate
--Driver’s license or other form of valid Identification
--Valid vehicle registration or rental car agreement
--Proof of current vehicle insurance

No pass required if U.S. citizen being escorted (see "escort, sponsor" tab)

After Hours Passes:
Guest must have REAL ID compliant DLs, and if they don’t, they must be accompanied by federally issued picture IDs such as TWIC/Passport/Passport Card/Green Card/VHIC/Certified Birth Certificate + SSN Card.

Boats 
East gate only.

Non-commercial vehicles, including utility and travel trailers
South or east gates
RVs will be denied entry from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Sponsoring (8 people, 30 days)
Active-duty, military retirees, dependents and DoD CAC holders, may sponsor up to eight individuals for 30 days.

*CURRENTLY SUSPENDED* Trusted traveler - authorized escorts (10 people)
Active-duty, military retirees, dependents and DoD CAC holders are authorized to vouch for the identity and purpose of up to 10 passengers.
Note: Individuals must be a U.S. citizen to be escorted. No pass required if escorted.

Not authorized escort privileges at any time
Active-duty, military retirees, dependents and DoD CAC holders can only sponsor up to eight unless coordinated with PSFB VCC.

Foreign Visitor Request
Form must be completed no later than 30-days prior to visit.

DoD Civilian Retiree IDs
As of 31 Aug 2023, DoD civilian retiree IDs have been discontinued DoD wide.

Patrick SFB visitor center issues new DBIS cards to any DoD civilian retirees.
-- Must bring SF-50 form to visitor center to attain new retiree DBIDS card.

VHIC (Veteran Health Identification Card)

-- Card must display the Veteran’s eligibility status (i.e., PURPLE HEART, FORMER POW or SERVICE CONNECTED).
-- Veterans who are eligible and want to take advantage of in-person benefits must have a Veterans Health Identification Card (VHIC).
-- Primary Family Caregivers must have an eligibility letter from VA’s Office of Community Care. VA Caregivers Letters must be accompanied by REAL ID compliant credentials.
