Commanders Key Support Program

 

The Commanders Key Support Program is an official unit/family program designed to enhance readiness and establish a sense of Air and Space Force community. It is a commander's program that promotes partnerships with unit leadership, volunteer Key Support Liaisons, families, the Military Family Readiness Center and other community and helping agencies. The program has been standardized across the Department of the Air Force to address the needs of all military families with special emphasis on support to families across the deployment cycle.

Guidance

Air Force Instruction (AFI) 36-3009, Airman and Family Readiness Centers, paragraphs 4.9.2, 4.9.2.3 - 4.9.2.5., provides guidance. In addition, this CKSP Guide provides further clarification on the roles and responsibilities of each KSL team member.

The Commander’s Guide provides Commanders with information and resources to help units manage their official CKSP. The guide is designed to provide a practical approach to develop an effective unit CKSP, with tips and tools to assist Commanders in recruiting, interviewing and selecting unit KSL.

The KSL and KSL Guides provide volunteers with guidance, information and resources on meeting the expectations of their role, and the vision set forth by their unit Commander. The CLSP forms below are required for the Military & Family Readiness Center and Squadrons.

 

What is a Key Support Liaison?

Key Support Liaison's are volunteers that can include Spouse, Active Duty Members, Federal Civilians, Family Members, and Civilian's connected to the unit.

  • They perform a vital communication role between unit leadership and its Families.
  • Key Support Liaison provide support to the Families of military members during times of need.
  • Key Support Liaison assist Families in finding available base & community resources to utilize.

What can I expect of my Key Support Liaison?

  • Listen when you need to talk. Be non-judgmental.
  • Connect you to community information including volunteer opportunities and referral services.
  • Help your family with deployment support, hurricane information, and major life changes.
  • Provide a Peer-to-Peer support system on handling military life experiences. They know what it’s like. They’ve been there.
  • Serve as a vital link in exchanging information between unit leadership an your Families.
