Airmen participate in an Air Force Assistance Fund 5K run April 28, 2017, at Patrick Air Force Base, Fla. All proceeds from the run benefit the Air Force Assistance Fund campaign, which began April 10, 2017, and ends May 19, 2017. The goal for the 44th Air Force Assistance Fund campaign for Patrick AFB and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station is to raise $33,713 by the end of the six-week campaign. The Air Force Assistance Fund is an annual effort to raise funds for the charitable affiliates that provide support to Air Force families in need; such as: active duty, retirees, reservists, guard and dependents, including surviving spouses. The charitable affiliate organizations provide support in an emergency, with educational needs, or a secure retirement home for widows or widowers of Air Force members in need of financial assistance.
