Command and control teams stood up during Hurricane Matthew

A day prior to the anticipated arrival of Hurricane Matthew, the "Blue Team" set up a 45th Space Wing mission planning cell in Orlando on Oct. 5, 2016. The team remained in contact with wing leadership until the "Silver Team" stood up at Kennedy Space Center Oct. 6, 2016. Two command and control teams and two hurricane recovery teams stood up during Hurricane Matthew to ride out the storm while Patrick Air Force Base and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station were closed. Together, the wing teams ran 24-hour operations and monitored the storm track from the day prior to the arrival of Hurricane Matthew through recovery operations. The 45th SW returned to normal operations within three days following the storm. (Courtesy photo)
