Mr. George J. Herold, one of the nine survivors present at the Patrick Air Force Base Pearl Harbor Memorial Ceremony hosted by the Air Force Technical Applications Center, is able to laugh with Brig. Gen. Ed Wilson, 45th Space Wing Commander, prior to the start of the ceremony on Dec. 7. Also pictured (far left) is Gen. Wilson’s wife, Lisa. 69 years after the Japanese attacked the American fleet at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941, the nine men present at the Memorial Ceremony who survived the attack were honored here for their service as a tribute to the 2,388 men and women who were killed that fateful day “that will live in infamy”. Another 1,178 people were wounded during the attack and 21 American warships were either sunk, beached, or damaged.
