PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Maj. Gen. Frank Padilla (right), 10th Air Force commander, awards a coin to Master Sgt. Kenneth Swainston, a 920th Rescue Wing traditional Reservist, at Hangar 750 here Sept. 11, 2011. Swainston received the coin for helping local law enforcement rescue a stabbing victim from a car in the Indian River in Melbourne, Fla., just a few miles from the base. Swainston, Master Sgt. Rodney Huffman, 45th Space Communications Squadron Superintendent, and Staff Sgt. Jesus Pino, 45th Aerospace Medicine Squadron, are all credited with helping a Brevard County Sheriff’s Deputy rescue and treat the woman Sept. 6, after the deputy had just shot a suspect who had been stabbing the woman in the passenger seat of the partially submerged car.
