Join me in giving a large 45th Space Wing kudos to SpaceX and all mission partners involved in last week's successful Pad Abort Test mission.

As you know, this is just one of the many steps we'll continue to do with our mission partners as we lean forward in creating the "Spaceport of the Future" here at the Eastern Range. That was a great beginning to do just that!

Next on our agenda, exactly two weeks to the day from the successful SpaceX mission, we're working diligently to prepare for the May 20 United Launch Alliance-built Atlas V mission carrying the X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle.

This will be the fourth space flight for the X-37B program -- and the previous three were all launched from here at the Cape and all landings to date have occurred at my alma mater, Vandenberg Air Force Base, California.

And, just in case anyone wonders, the accomplishments of this program were recently recognized by the 2015 National Space Foundation Achievement Award and the 2015 American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronauts Foundation Excellence Award.

But as sophisticated as our satellites can be, as diverse as their capabilities, as vital as their missions, every launch - every single one - is ultimately in the hands of the people from Team Patrick-Cape and our talented mission partners who practice our "one launch at a time" philosophy.

I could probably fill a book with positive words to describe our launch team here at the Eastern Range but here are two that always come to mind: Pride and Commitment!

You can't see either of them from the outside, viewing a launch from the Space Coast, for example -- but from what I see, working a launch with each and every member of our team, that pride and commitment is clearly visible.

Our team is justifiably proud of what we do around here for the space industry - and what we consistently bring to the Department of Defense, the United States Air Force and to our national security.

And trust me, I have seen first-hand how committed this team is - even in the face of enormous challenges - to make sure they "dot every 'I' and cross every 'T'" to ensure we reach our number one priority of 100 percent mission success.

In our business, there are no shortcuts, no easy ways out, no looking the other way ... we do it the right way, each and every time.

And that's by providing full-spectrum customer service and disciplined and safe process execution. Period.

We do so with as much Pride and Commitment as you can ever find in any team ... anywhere.

It's all about Pride and Commitment here on the Space Coast!  And we're proud of it!

Stay Focused, Sharks.
