To the men and women of Air Force Space Command,

The holiday season is upon us in all its glory!  As we take time to unwind and spend time with family and friends, I encourage you to remember our deployed Airmen, their families, and those who may not be able to spend the holidays with their families.  With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it is easy to overlook our teammates who may be alone or in need of additional emotional support this time of year ... please look out for one another and TAKE ACTION!

I also want to pause and thank each of you for your outstanding efforts this year which have resulted in history-defining feats, all while the Command witnessed one of the safest years in recent memory!  I am very proud of this record, and it's all due to your diligence, using sound risk management principles to make responsible decisions and being good Wingmen.  Please continue making wise decisions throughout this holiday season.  Think through your travel and festive plans and have a 'Plan B' for when the unexpected happens.  A new mnemonic that is gaining traction in the Safety Community may help:

GPS!
Gear - Do you have the proper, well-maintained gear for the activity?
Plan - Have you thought through and planned for all the possible scenarios for this activity?
Skills - Do you possess the proper skills for what you are about to attempt?

Laura and I wish each of you a Happy Holiday Season and an even better 2016 ... we look forward to seeing you all safely back after some well-deserved relaxation!
