There is no better way to round out the year than with the historic launch of a Falcon 9 rocket... ending with a picture-perfect landing of its first stage booster back on Earth. This successful launch (#17) and landing (#1) would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of everyone at the 45th SW. You continue to ensure the Space Coast remains the World's premier gateway to space.

Now that we are winding down, it's time to stay focused on being safe throughout the holiday season. Last year was one of the safest years the Wing has experienced, and I anticipate 2016 to follow suit.

With all the new toys that you will be putting together and attempting to show your kids how to use, please take a minute and assess risk prior to embarking on a new adventure. This year's hottest (and I don't mean catching on fire) are the hover board and drones--please be careful and only operate in safe environments.

If you are traveling make sure you have backup plans. If driving, check the weather, ensure you have adequate rest, your car is properly maintained and in good operating condition. Don't push yourself beyond your limits to make it back to town. An extra day of leave is a small price for safe travels.

Chief Lamoureux and I wish you a safe and relaxing Holiday Season that is filled with joy. We look forward to seeing you back to ring in the New Year!
