We'll continue to focus on our priorities Published Feb. 18, 2010 By By Col. Ed Wilson PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- There's an old saying that you only get one opportunity to make a good first impression. Well, if that's the case and I firmly believe it to be true - then the Sharks hit a home run. Last Friday's Change of Command was a great day for both the Boltons and Wilsons. Hats off to the entire team for your efforts and enthusiastic support. Lisa and I have been humbled by your welcome. As I said last week, I'd be foolish to come in here and rewire the wing. That, for sure, isn't in the works. What is in the plan, however, is to continue to focus on our priorities, just as you have been doing all along. Our No. 1 priority will continue to be a laser focus on 100% mission success. If we continue to focus on our mission of providing assured access to the high frontier, while supporting global operations at the same time, I'm confident we'll be successful. Taking care of our people will be our No. 2 priority. The old adage "if you take care of people they will take care of the mission," is sage counsel. We'll continue to be committed to our extended team. Along those lines, it's worth a quick reminder that the Air Force Assistance Fund Drive is ongoing right now. The AFAF is a great opportunity to give back to our extended Air Force family, so please consider participating in the drive. Our No. 3 priority will be to keep making range and infrastructure modernization progress. None of us know exactly what the future holds, but one thing is certain -- we must be ready and able to handle any and all launch-related missions that come our way. And we will make the needed changes to ensure we are prepared. Finally, our No. 4 priority is to mature our partnerships. The bottom line up front is this: we could not do what we do without the help and support of our mission, industry and community partners. Rest assured, we have tremendous relationships across the board. My commitment will be to continue the extra effort needed to ensure success in this area. Together, we will continue to grow, continue to improve the way we do things, and continue our service to our nation, to our Air Force family and to the Space Coast community.
