What do you do to help keep the planet clean? Think of the impact that one billion people doing one thing every day to better the environment could have.
That is the goal for Earth Day 2011: A Billion Acts of Green.
This year, commit to making the small changes that make a big difference: drive less, recycle more, and look for products made from organic and/or recycled materials.
The changes are small, but spread over time and done by many people its adds up to a better planet.
The most important thing is to create a culture where individuals are inspired and motivated to do what benefits all.
The Air Force needs leaders who can make people understand that ignoring the problem can be a threat to all of us and that rising up to make a difference is an opportunity to change the Air Force way of life.
As Airmen, NCOs, Officers, Civilians and anyone who makes this area their home, we need to evaluate what we do and how we do it to find better ways of protecting human health and the environment.
At the 2011 Environmental, Safety and Occupational Health Symposium Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Installations, Environment and Logistics, The Honorable Terry Yonkers, looked to the newest generation of leaders to lead the charge for an eco-friendly Air Force.
"As you look at our environmental programs, how we contract for environmental services, the processes that guide our decision making and the time it takes to do all this - I challenge you to question if there is a better way," said Yonkers.
This Earth Day, will you be one of the Billion Acts of Green?
