Today the 45th Space Wing started our Critical Days of Summer (CDS) Campaign. This year¹s campaign is entitled "Save Your Skin."  Anyone who has been with the Air Force for any length of time knows that wing leaders and supervisors, along with the safety office, strongly promote efforts to protect our military and civilian workers during the CDS.

The Critical Days of Summer are historically the time period where you are most likely to be injured or killed as a result of a mishap.

Gen. Phillip Breedlove, Air Force Vice Chief of Staff, has designated this
year as the Year of the Motorcycle, due to the large number of motorcycle fatalities that the Air Force has experienced. This year¹s campaign will include many safety events which cover both motorcycle and other vehicle safety issues.

Our campaign begins at 9 a.m. at the base theater. The Street Smart program, which has practicing paramedics as presenters, will be on stage telling you of their real-life experiences. Much of their program involves audience participation as they go through the events of a vehicle crash response.

All audience members will receive a bottle of skin care lotion to remind them to ³Save Your Skin.² I look forward to seeing you all at this event. Attendance is mandatory for all members of the 45th Space Wing.

Another highlight of the program will be the motorcycle mentorship ride on Aug. 5. These have proven to save lives through the passing on of critical riding information from pros to less experienced riders.

Please take an active role in this year¹s campaign.

As always, thank you for all you do.
