PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Last week, we had the very distinct pleasure of hosting the highest ranking enlisted member of our Armed Forces here at Team Patrick.
United States Marine Corps Sergeant Major Bryan B. Battaglia, the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Army General Martin E. Dempsey, spent a couple days last week touring Patrick Air Force Base and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.
As we do for all of our distinguished visitors, we proudly showed him what each of our teams at the 45th Space Wing, Air Force Technical Application Center, and Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute bring to the fight.
Sgt. Maj. Battaglia toured the national space launch assets of the 45th Space Wing we operate and maintain with our outstanding Airmen. He was impressed by the professionalism, motivation, and expertise our team exhibits delivering assured space launch, range, and combat capabilities for the Nation.
The next day, Sgt. Maj. Battaglia conducted an enlisted all call at the base theater, where members of all services were invited to listen and learn from a Marine who has spent the last 33 years serving our country.
During the all call, he highlighted Gen. Dempsey's four major priorities: Achieve objectives in current conflicts; Develop Joint Force 2020; Keeping faith with our military families; and Renew our commitment to our profession of arms.
His unique perspective as the senior enlisted member of the Department of Defense was made clear as he exhorted the audience to understand what leadership considers
important and each member's role in achieving those goals. Having this message brought to Patrick Air Force Base and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station from the very top
was a unique opportunity for all present.
After the all call, Sgt. Maj. Battaglia served as the guest speaker for a graduation ceremony at the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute. There, he spoke about the first of our Air Force Core Values: Integrity.
"Integrity needs to be a part of our daily teachings," Sgt. Maj. Battaglia told the newly minted joint service equal opportunity advisors. "It's one of the core attributes."
Thank you, Sharks, for demonstrating to our top enlisted member what we already know: the 45th Space Wing is the World's Premier Gateway to Space!
