With help from Team Patrick-Cape and its surrounding communities, the 2014 Air Force Assistance Fund wrapped up April 25 with $29,125 in total contributions.

The year's theme, 'Commitment to Caring' is more than a catch-phrase, but rather a pledge that the Air Force family supports to the fullest.

"The Air Force Assistance Fund is important because it is money that goes directly to our Airmen," said Col. Robert Pavelko, 45th Space Wing vice commander. "This type of direct support to one another can make a difference in someone's life; simply, without your contributions, none of this would be possible.

"As we wrap up another outstanding campaign year, thank you all for your generosity and support," Pavelko added.

Master Sgt. Scott Johnson, the Air Force Assistance Fund installation project officer, said he is thankful for everyone's contribution and echoed Pavelko's words.

"Our team worked hard to meet its goal," Johnson said. "Everyone's dedication to the campaign ensured continued support to our Airmen and their families."

Contributions benefit four official Air Force charitable organizations: Air Force Aid Society, Air Force Enlisted Village, Air Force Village and the General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation.

The AFAF was established in 1943 to provide an annual effort to raise funds for charitable affiliates that provide support to the Air Force family, including active-duty, retirees, reservist, guard, dependents and surviving military spouses.

These organizations help Air Force members with aid in an emergency, with educational needs, or to have a secure retirement home for widows or widowers of the AF members in need of financial assistance.
