With these drugs, Airmen beware Published July 12, 2007 By Diana Davis Drug Demand Reduction Office PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The Drug Demand Reduction Program Office at Patrick AFB would like to bring the following items to your attention. There have been questions regarding supplements containing hemp seed or hempseed oil. Now there is "Chronic Candy" and "Dave." There is a new candy that is spreading across the United States and is very popular with the 21 and older crowd. It's called Chronic Candy. Chronic Candy contains essential hemp oil and is illegal for Air Force members to ingest. This is not the first product containing Hemp that is marketed towards young adults, Jones Soda offers "Dave" which also contains hemp. Airmen, be aware of what you are eating and drinking and the restrictions as outlined in the AFI 44-121: 3.5.5. Studies have shown that products made with hemp seed and hemp seed oil may contain varying levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), an active ingredient of marijuana which is detectable under the Air Force Drug Testing Program. In order to ensure military readiness, the ingestion of products containing or products derived from hemp seed or hemp seed oil is prohibited. Failure to comply with the prohibition on the ingestion of products containing or products derived from hemp seed or hemp seed oil is a violation of Article 92, UCMJ. There is also a very scary thing going on in the schools right now that all need to be aware of. There is a type of crystal meth going around that looks and smells like strawberry pop rocks. Kids are ingesting this thinking that it is candy and being rushed off to the emergency room in dire condition. It also comes in chocolate, peanut butter, cola, cherry, grape and orange. It looks just like pop rocks. Please instruct your children to not accept candy that looks like this even from a friend and to take any that they may have to a teacher, principal, etc. That is what they are calling strawberry meth or strawberry quick.
