The 2008 Air Force Assistance Fund (AFAF) campaign, "Commitment to Caring", concluded today here and at Cape Canaveral. The campaign, which kicked off Feb. 11 was a resounding success. The goal for this year's six-week campaign was $39,579 with 100 percent contact of all assigned Air Force personnel. The community really stepped up and exceeded the goal in the sixth week of the campaign. We started this campaign with the belief that the AFAF is a great opportunity for Air force members to "take care of their own" and it is apparent that this community believes that as well. The 2008 AFAF campaign exceeded its goal and contributions are still coming in with estimates showing we will soon be $10,000 over our goal!

All Unit Project Officers and key workers have reported 100 percent contact of their personnel with more than 30 percent donating to one or more of the AFAF charities. Everyone did a great job of canvassing their units and it shows in the level of donations this year; an overwhelming majority of units exceeded their contribution goals. Special recognition has to go out to the 45th Launch Group and 45th Operations Group who made 208 percent and 194 percent of their goal this year but did so with 48 and 50 percent of their people contributing to the AFAF respectively. These units started this campaign off strong and never let the pace slow.

The 45th Launch Group Unit Project Officers were: Capt. Clifford Hewitt, 1st Lt. Jeremy McCraney, Capt. Ben Seabough and Master Sgt. Greg Burdett. The 45th Operations Group campaign was headed by Capt. Avery Beaver, 1st Lt Ashley Maher, 2nd Lt. Steve Mercer, 1st Lt. John Newman, Staff Sgt. Matthew McBride, Tech. Sgt. Antonio Cooper, 2nd Lt. Greg Strong, Dennis Malbon, Maj. Justin Mulkey and Master Sgt. Mike Cyr.

Special thanks goes to Capt. Lynn Michael who served as the 45th Space Wing Alternate Unit Project Officer and contributed greatly to the success of this year's campaign.
