Tax return preparation services for tax year 2012 will be offered to the Patrick Air Force Base Community from February 2013 through April 17th, 2013, and you have the opportunity to help! The Volunteers in Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers federal tax return electronic filling service free of charge to all Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, Retired military personnel, and civilian personnel working at Patrick Air Force Base.

The VITA program is sponsored by Patrick's Legal Office and offered in conjunction with the Internal Revenue Service. VITA is administered and staffed by volunteers.

Volunteer positions include Counselors for tax return preparation and Client Facilitators. A volunteer working in the Counselor position will be required to attend and complete the training program, successfully complete the IRS certification exam and agree to the IRS Standards of Conduct. The Counselor training will be provided locally during the month of January 2013. The Client Facilitator position performs the scheduling of appointments, answers the telephone, and greets the clients. A half-day training session will be provided for the Client Facilitator position in January 2013. Client Facilitators must agree to the IRS Standards of Conduct.

The Patrick Air Force Base VITA program has been recognized by the IRS as an outstanding program. Come join a winning team that is free to our clients and provides valuable and important service to active duty members, retirees, and their dependents.
