The Washington Nationals, along with their sponsor, Science Applications International Corporation, hosted a "Military Appreciation Day" at Space Coast Stadium in Viera during their game against the Houston Astros March 5.

Service members from all branches of the military were represented on the field during the playing of the National Anthem. The 45th Space Wing Honor Guard posted the colors, and the National Anthem was sung by Tech. Sgt. Altrameise Myers, a Reservist assigned to the 920th Rescue Wing, who also works as a civilian employee with the 45th Space Wing.

The ceremonious throwing-out of the first pitch was done by Gen. (Ret.) John Jumper, former Air Force Chief of Staff and current CEO and Chairman of the Board for SAIC, and Brig. Gen. Anthony Cotton, 45th Space Wing commander.

"The 45th Space Wing is proud to be a part of the Space Coast community, and we are really grateful for all of the support they show to our service members. I felt truly privileged to be able to throw the first pitch with General Jumper, and I'm glad we had a day to get some of our Airmen out of the office and into the stands," said Gen. Cotton.
