(This story is part four of four of 1st Lt Adam Kriete, 337th Air Control Squadron student, and his family coming to Patrick Air Force Base, Fla. from Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla.)
In the aftermath of a hurricane, there will be hardship.
It takes time to come to grips with what was lost.
They rely on each other like a team, frequently reminding each other that they have to get through this event in their lives together as a team.
But the Krietes have another family helping them every step of the way.
Patrick AFB Wingmen have been there to help them with their situation. They have now seen what it’s like when the Air Force bands together to help their own.
“The Air Force actually embodies that concept, and it’s almost like a lifestyle,” Kriete said.
As helpful as the Air Force has been to them it’s also a testament to the Kriete’s ability to stay resilient, and how much tenacity they have in the face of adversity.
“We’ve definitely grown together as a family because of this,” Kriete said.
They may have lost their possessions, but they haven’t lost hope.
“If a storm hits a base you can guarantee I’ll be the first one in line doing what needs to be done and getting my hands dirty,” Kriete said. “I would love to pay it forward to any Air Force community.”
