Twenty four service members, civilians and key spouses graduated from the 45th Space Wing Resiliency Training Assistant (RTA) Course Mar. 22, 2018.

RTA graduates provide unit-based resilience training to military and civilian personnel and their families. Furthermore, with Master Resiliency Trainers (MRTs) through professional military education, they also provide training for Wingman Day and special events.

“These twenty four members of our military family volunteered to represent and promote resiliency,” said Col Z. Walter Jackim, 45th Space Wing vice commander. “Resiliency Training Assistants play a vital role in building and sustaining a culture of comprehensively fit Airmen who are capable of addressing the unique challenges and stressors we face every day while optimizing performance both on duty and at home.”

The 3-day course is taught by Master Resiliency Trainers, who provide expertise, guidance and structure to the Resiliency Program.

“We are fortunate to have a skilled team of MRTs who make the RTA course successful,” said Lorie Woodcock, 45th Space Wing Community Support Coordinator. “A special thank you goes to our MRT leads for this course: Capt Kileigh Smith, SMSgt. Jill Curbo, TSgt. Lance Bartels, SSgt Adam Edwards, SSgt Charles Larson, SSgt Richard Canales, SrA Caitlin Noah, Mr. Andrei Adaryukov, Ms. Shalarie Highsmith, Mr. James Chenoweth, Ms. Cheryl Henkenberns and Mr. Gene Gribble.”

Upon completion of the course, RTAs serve as unit subject matter experts. They deliver small group resilience training, assist MRTs teaching in the First Term Airman Center, and assist with Wingman Days.

“RTAs are peers within the work centers,” Woodcock said. “They are accessible and approachable. By sharing resiliency skills, they set the foundation that helps sustain a fit, resilient, and ready force.”
