Navigating through college websites, academic handbooks and admissions can be an overwhelming task when it comes to landing the right school.

Whether Airmen are at the beginning of their journey or planning to continue on, the Education Fair at Patrick Air Force Base, Florida April 4, 2017, was a step in the right direction for those seeking higher education.

During the event, Airmen had an opportunity to meet face-to-face with school representatives and get their questions answered by more than 40 colleges and universities in attendance.

The event also included educational resources from agencies such as Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support; National Association of Institutions for Military Education Services; Pearson Vue and Tutor.com for attendees to arm themselves with knowledge.

“The event was designed to open doors for military, civilians, and family members to explore educational and certification programs available to them from participating schools and vendors,” said Mark Watford, 45th Force Support Squadron Education and Training chief.

Coordinating this education fair was in conjunction with a two-day workshop with the Florida Advisory Council on Military Education (FL-ACME), which made for a wonderful segue for schools to meet and hold open discussions concerning educational issues, according to Watford.

During the workshop, which followed the education fair here April 5-6, 2017, FL-ACME’s discussion focused on enhancing, promoting and encouraging education for our Florida military families, according to Willie Woolford, FL-ACME president.

At the workshop, representatives in attendance ranged from civilian colleges, military-friendly resource providers, education officers, DOD and state levels from across the state of Florida to discuss issues pertaining to military education in the state of Florida.
