45th Weather Squadron

Weather squadron logoThe 45th Weather Squadron provides precise and timely weather forecasts before, during and after all launch activities on the Eastern Range. They're responsible for monitoring and assessing weather conditions that could impact launches, such as lightning, wind speeds, cloud cover and other atmospheric factors to ensure the safety of launch personnel, the general public and to protect assets and equipment.

The squadron also delivers long-term weather predictions that help schedule launch windows and reduce risk. The squadron's continuous monitoring extends beyond the immediate launch area, tracking weather conditions along the rocket's trajectory and across the Atlantic. This disciplined and precision work enables Space Launch Delta 45 to maintain high safety and mission success standards by providing the critical environmental data needed to make informed launch decisions.

Mission: Exploit the weather to assure safe access to air and space.
