Mission

  • Perform multi-modal logistics and airfield operations sustainment to SLD 45 and 70 mission partners, empowering US Air and Space Force objectives with combat ready Airmen.

Leadership & Organizational Structure

    • AIRFIELD OPERATIONS FLIGHT
      • Executes Air Traffic Control (ATC) and Airfield Management services ISO 24 thousand annual safe and successful flying operations at PSFB & CCSFS airfields
      •  Performs critical ATC services within Class D airspace (5-mile radius) and maintains operational ATC Towers
      •  Leads Airfield Management functional oversight; ensures airfields are following applicable directives, and aviation safety and mission sustainment operations
      • Provides direct mission support of Space Launches Personal Recovery (PR) Alert aircraft, USN P-3) and Pegasus (L1011) from CCSFS Airfield.
      • Provides Airfield Operations support for key mission partners and DVs: 920 RQW (Combat Search & Rescue Training and Real-World support), State Department, National Reconnaissance Office, Naval Ordnance Test Unit, Maintains 4 Drop-Zones for Parachute Jump Operation, Facilitates Airfield Lights-Out training at both airfields, Focal point for National Airborne Operations Center alert aircraft, expeditionary deployment Ops  National Security space hardware delivery/shipment
    • MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS FLIGHT
      • RADAR Airfield and Weather Systems (RAWS)
        • Supports ATC ops at PSFB, CCSFS & KSC with maintenance (mx) of assigned Navaids, ground-to-air radios, RADAR and weather system valued at $6M. 
        •  Supports Eastern Range launch ops through mx of mission system comms, ground-to-air radios, RADAR and weather systems.
        • Performs over 900 mx actions on 134 systems spanning an impressive 120-mile OR
        •  Team sustains an impressive 99% system uptime rate driving over 27K aircraft mission operations
        • Critical SATCOM Human Space Flight direction mission support
      • Transient Alert/Aerospace Ground Equipment (TA/AGE)
        • Contract Officer Responsibilities (COR) enforcing $5.4M contract performance logistics execution
        • Supported >300 transient aircraft at PSFB & CCSFS  
        • COR drove 141 inspections and evaluated 25 areas
        • Team provides airshow direct mission support deploying 40 assets to 6 events across their AOR
        • SLD 45 Crash Damage & Disabled Aircraft Recovery (CDDAR) process owner and duel hatted as CDDAR Team Chief overseeing 920 RQW & Department of State CDDAR programs respectively

 

    • DEPLOYMENT AND DISTRIBUTION FLIGHT
      • Installation Deployment Readiness Cell (IDRC)
        • Manage SLD 45 deployment execution - Deploy/reintegrate 147 warfighters/43.5 STs cargo/execute AFFORGEN
        • Directly Manages 78 Support Agreements yielding $18M in Annual Reimbursements from SLD 45 mission partners
        • Provides functional guidance and training to SLD UDMs & 75 Functional Area Agreement Coordinators
      • Air Terminal (AT)
        • Direct mission support to biweekly B-757 to Ascension Island sole sustainment mission (26 missions annually)
        • Moves 1.5K warfighters and 300K Tons of cargo annually on C-5, C-17, C-130, KC-10, KC-135, B-757, and B-747 aircraft
        • Provides high visibility Distinguished Visitors MHE support
        • Direct mission Human Spaceflight missions support repositioning/reading $4.6M in assets equipment in 2025
        • USSF Small Air Terminal of the Year honors recognized with consecutive 2022, 2023 and 2024 wins!
      • Vehicle Operations (GT)
        •  Air crew & tractor trailer/MHE support for PSFB/CCSFS
        • Daily pickup and delivery PSFB/CCSFS facilities
        • Moved 1.5K Tons of space systems cargo and 6K personnel over 110K miles during 2025
        • Crew launch/Distinguished Visitor/MHE vehicle support 
      • Traffic Management Office (TMO)
        • Coordinate 6 Military Sealift Command ASI sustainment vessels annually $11.5M with SDDC processing 2.3K tons of sustainment moved on 350 SEAVANS containers
        • Load/unload 3,800 trucks for small parcels/tractor trailer
        • Packs/process 18K shipments and 70K pieces weighing 2K Tons capturing 200 hazardous items, and 300 MICAPS
        • Conducts HAZMAT tech specialists’ training for SLD 45, mission partners and tenant units
      • Personal Property Office (PPO)
        • Counsels 4K customers (9 counties all DoD branches)
        •  Process 575 PPMs/1.7K HHG inspections annually
        • Books 7.4K passengers commercial and Military Air
        • Provide 15 Blue Bark services across 30K mi² AOR

      • VM Team schedules and performs all necessary maintenance to maintain the fleet's safety and operational readiness.
      • Additionally, the team actively participate in hurricane preparedness and response efforts, prioritizing the safety of the PSFB & CCSFS populace.

          • Ordnance Services performs all tasks related to management and control of explosives services at CCSFS/KSC.
        • Logistics
          • Provides surveillance and technical advice on complex logistics topics or issues for contracts with a logistics component at Ascension Island.
        • Fuels
          • Oversees 2 DLA Fuels Contracts for PSFB and CCSFS. Provides liquid oxygen, aviation and ground fuels via mobile refueling units and Base Fuels Service Station.

        • LRS hosts a quarterly Airmen and Guardian Multi-Capable Airmen/Guardian course, providing Air Transportation skillsets, outside of their primary AFSC’s that may be needed in deployed/austere environments.

        • LRS hosts a quarterly "Warrior Day" event designed to enhance Airmen and Guardians' ability to operate effectively in austere, rapidly changing deployment environments. Open to SLD 45 teammates and mission partners, this event will focus on deployment readiness.
