Patrick to host first-ever Wingman Multicultural Day Oct. 21

Patrick Air Force Base, Florida, is hosting the first-ever Wingman Multicultural Day which focuses on the social domain of Comprehensive Airman Fitness through connection with Wingmen here Oct. 21, 2016.

The day kicks off at 10 a.m. and features various countries and backgrounds who will showcase their diverse cultures through displays, cultural performances, demonstrations, food and fashion.

 

“Members have the opportunity to participate in resiliency activities,” said Master Sgt. Angela Chenoweth, 45th Medical Group executive officer. “We will hold our first 45th Space Wing Comprehensive Airman Fitness Quest Challenge where teams will compete in resiliency based challenges to see which group holds the title of 2016 Comprehensive Airman Fitness Challenge Champion.”

 

Each year, the Department of Defense and the Department of the Air Force celebrate the rich and diverse heritage and the 45th Space Wing’s goal is to build upon the Comprehensive Airman Fitness social domain by maximizing exposure to the unique talents and heritage of its members.

 

“The ultimate goal is to celebrate our diversity and educate ourselves on the richness that lies within all cultures,” Chenoweth said.

 

Additionally, the Wingman Multicultural Day committee's goals is to continue to maximize exposure to the unique talents and heritage of the 45th Space Wing members and expand the celebration into one Wing sponsored celebration. Wingman Multicultural Day includes cultural and resiliency information and activities, and a Shark Comprehensive Airman Fitness Quest.

 

Planned Multicultural Day events include:

 

•10 a.m.: Opening ceremony at the WarFit track

•10:10 a.m.: The 45th Space Wing Comprehensive Airman Fitness Quest Challenge begins

•10:30 a.m.: Zumbia Demo

•10:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.: Cultural performances/demonstrations

•2:30 p.m.:  Comprehensive Airman Fitness Challenge Champions announced

•3 p.m.: Closing ceremony

 

The Warfit track is designated as an alternate duty location and physical training gear is authorized with optional moral shirt for this event.
