Volunteer Career Fair
The Airman & Family Readiness Center (A&FRC) is sponsoring a Volunteer Career Fair March 29 from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Shark Center, 805 Harrier St., Building 3655, Pelican Coast Housing, Satellite Beach.
Expect to fill out volunteer job applications for opportunities both on- and off-base agencies. Volunteer agencies will be available to discuss their volunteer positions. For more information, call 494-3472.

A&FRC classes
The Airman and Family Readiness Center hosts the following classes and meetings. All are at the A&FRC, Building 722, unless otherwise noted:
- Transition Assistance Program (TAP) Workshop - Tuesday through Thursday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
- 1st Term Airman Financial Management - Tuesday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Summer Hire Program
Positions available for the 2007 Summer Hire Program for Patrick Air Force Base are recreation aid, recreation aid (lifeguard), recreation aid (lead lifeguard) and clerks. For more information, contact the Civilian Personnel Office at 494-4189.

MOAA scholarships
Military Officers Association of America Cape Canaveral Chapter will award 10 scholarships of $4,000 each to qualified college students.
Qualifications are listed at www.moaacc.org. Asian Pacific American Heritage Committee
Asian Pacific Heritage celebrations are held every year during the month of May. The Asian Pacific American Heritage Committee invites civilians, officers, enlisted, family members and retirees to assist with the preparation required for the month-long activities. Participating and working on this observance and all observances is always open to everyone.
The first planning meeting was held Wednesday at the Airman and Family Readiness Center. Anyone interested in assisting and ensuring this year's celebration is a memorable one may contact Capt. Don Brown, 494-0516.

Women's History Month Committee
Women's History Month is being celebrated in March. To plan for the month-long commemoration, the Women's History Month Committee meets regularly on Mondays, 1 p.m. in the Civilian Personnel Office Conference Room, Building 536, Room 130 at Patrick AFB.
The Committee is putting together a 45th Space Wing cookbook and is asking for submissions. Categories are: soups/salads, main courses, desserts and beverages. E-mail your recipes to mentissa.kleczkowski@rc.patrick.af.mil.

Boy Scouts seek members
Patrick AFB Boy Scout Troop 326 is looking for young men ages 11-16 to join.

Flag football clinic signup
Sign up is available for free flag football clinics at Youth Programs. Register at Youth Programs anytime from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. or call 494-3770.

Air Force Aid Society grant applications available
The General Arnold Education Grant application for academic year 2007-2008 is now available. Information on eligibility, procedures, instructions and the application are available from the Air Force Aid Society's home page, http://www.afas.org. Click on Education, then Arnold Grants. Applications will be accepted until March 9. The society continues to urge eligible candidates to apply early and complete the entire application process. Personal and Family Readiness Briefing
This is a mandatory annual requirement for personnel who are "Identified to Deploy" or "Subject to Deploy" IAW AFI 10-403 (para. 1.6.2). Briefings are offered monthly at the Airman and Family Readiness Center, Building 722. Information briefed includes: family care plans, entitlements, wills/powers of attorney, American Red Cross and family readiness. Spouses are welcome and highly encouraged to attend. Upcoming briefing dates are March 22, April 19, May 24, June 21, July 19, Aug. 23, Sept. 20, Oct. 18 and Nov. 29, all 8-11 a.m. Attendance is by registration only. Free Cape tours offered to public
The 45th Space Wing Public Affairs Office offers free bus tours of Cape Canaveral Air Force Station for the general public the second Wednesday of each month. The three-hour tour includes a visit to the Air Force Space and Missile Museum, as well as active and retired launch pads and facilities. Tours begin at 8:45 a.m. at the South Gate of Cape Canaveral AFS. Reservations are required and seating is limited, on a first-come, first-served basis. CDC Openings
The Child Development Center currently has full-time child care slots available for children ages 3-5 years. Call 494-7028.

Sponsor a spouse
The Airman and Family Readiness Center is starting a new program which provides newcomer spouses with sponsors. The A&FRC is looking for spouses to volunteer for the new Sponsor-a-Spouse program. The program is open to all ID card holders. Call 494-5676 to volunteer or for more information.

Donations needed at the Airman's Attic
The Airman's Attic needs dishes, silverware, baby furniture, and family room items. Items should be in good shape and not left outside after hours. The Airman's Attic has an overage of books, stereo equipment, baby strollers, car seats and high chairs available for those in need. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 494-4907 for more information

English for speakers of other languages
English for Speakers of Other Languages is held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday and is sponsored by the Airman and Family Readiness Center. The class is open for all speakers of other languages in need of learning English or polishing up their English speaking and writing skills. An instructor from the Brevard County School Board teaches the classes in the South Chapel Community Center in Pelican Coast. The class is free and open to active duty, DoD civilians, retirees, NAF, AAFES employees and their eligible family members. Toastmasters meet
The Beachside Broadcasters Toastmasters group meets every first and third Wednesday of each month at noon in Building 401. Toastmasters can help people lose their fear of public speaking, be better listeners, easily lead teams and conduct meetings and comfortably give and receive constructive evaluation.
