Team, even as we continue to try to get back to some sort of "normalcy" here at the 45th Space Wing, especially after all we've been through these past few weeks, we still need to keep our eyes on what's just around the corner.

As I'm sure you are all well aware, we recently got the official notification from the Air Force Space Command's Inspection General Team that we will be getting two chances to show off with back-to-back opportunities to display why we are the best in the world at what we do.

First on the inspection docket is an "On-Site-Visit" scheduled Nov. 15 - 20. The purpose of the seven-member team visit is two-fold. They will observe our work and processes during the Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution, or MAVEN mission, currently set for an early afternoon launch Nov. 18.

In addition, they are going to get an up-close-and-personal look into the thorough and professional way we conduct exercises here at the Wing. Results of both aspects of this OSV will be incorporated into the final report in December.

A couple weeks after that, we'll be the first wing taking part in the AFSPC Unit Effectiveness Inspection Capstone Event, which is scheduled Dec. 8 - 16.

During this portion of the inspection, the AFSPC/IG will validate and verify the Commander's Inspection Program, conduct Airmen-To-IG Sessions, and independently assess unit effectiveness through task evaluations, audits and observation.

Team, I am well aware this is a very disconcerting time for our members of Team Patrick-Cape, especially those within the ranks of our dedicated Civilian Airmen.

I wish I was privy to what was going to happen in the near- and not-so-near future, but I can't predict the future. None of us here have that luxury.

The only promise I can give you is the same one I said I'd do since taking command here last June: when I know something, you'll hear it from me - and that includes the good, bad and ugly.

Together, we can overcome anything that gets in our way. You've proven that to me already time-and-time again since Day 1.

So let's sharpen our swords, hone our skills, and tighten up our programs.

And show off just a bit. Stay focused Sharks!
