The 45th Space Wing is launching a holiday party that's out of this world, Saturday, Dec. 9 from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. on Reef Court (also known as Commander's Row).

According to 1st Lt. Andrea Matalik, project officer, the event is not your normal Wing holiday party. "This promises to be the most unique holiday get together ever at Patrick Air Force Base," she said. "It will be different, but fun."

One unique aspect of the party is its location, right on the cul-de-sac where the Wing's senior leaders live. "How many of us drive by those homes and wonder what they're like inside? Well, party goers will get to see those homes, including the general's where there will be multiple desserts," said Lieutenant Matalik.

Another unique aspect will be skits presented by each of the four groups. "I had a sneak preview. The shirts from the groups are putting together some very entertaining skits," she said.

Free tickets were available to the first 50 junior airmen to request them. However, at press time, only 27 tickets remained. Those interested in free tickets should see their Group representative. "This promises to be the event of the year, so I wouldn't hesitate to scoop up a free ticket," said Lieutenant Matalik.

Door prizes will be awarded. Traditional finger foods and drinks, and a cash bar will be available. A DJ will spin tunes and Lt. Col. Doug Stropes will emcee the event. The Child Development Center, not usually open on Saturdays, will open from 6 - 11 p.m.

Brig. Gen. Susan Helms, 45th SW commander, hopes to see a huge crowd partying on Reef Court Dec. 9.

"Everyone is invited. I'd love to see the whole wing turn out. Food, fun, friends and Florida....I can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday night under the stars during the holiday season," she said.
