As of 12:00 p.m. today, Sept. 8, 2017, we entered Hurricane Condition III (HURCON III) in preparation for Hurricane Irma. I would like to share updates with you and your family members about our current situation.

As we continue to prepare for Hurricane Irma, we ask that you remain calm, trust in our procedures and know that our team is trained and ready for this event.

The transition into HURCON III indicates surface winds in excess of 58 mph could arrive in the area of the base within 48 hours. Again, we are declaring HURCON III slightly before the 48 hour-window to allow for our teams to prepare.  We will continue to monitor the latest available data on Hurricane Irma as well as work closely with Brevard County officials, state officials and other Air Force units.

I appreciate all of the hard work that you have done to prepare our facilities for the possible arrival of the storm in advance of this hurricane condition.

I ask that you please continue to stay in touch with your chain of command and log in to the Air Force Personnel Accountability and Assessment System (AFPAAS) at https://afpaas.af.mil.

I will continue to stay in touch with all of you and keep you informed through the onset of Hurricane Irma. Please do not hesitate to ask questions when you feel unsure. We have set up multiple platforms for you to get the most current and accurate information in regards to preparation for the storm. Please make sure you are using the Facebook page, Twitter alerts and www.patrick.af.mil for updates.

With that said, please take good care of your families and friends and above all, be safe. Remember that our possessions can be replaced but our Airmen and families cannot.
